A Traveler’s Odyssey

I traveled to Costa Rica for the first time in January 2023 and loved it!

I landed in San Jose, rented a car, and drove to Liberia. As a general rule, I don’t like renting cars in other countries. I’m concerned that traffic laws, habits may be too confusing, and I don’t want to cause an accident. But I really didn’t have any other choice this time. It landed around 5 PM and the only option to Liberia was renting a car. So I did it and it wasn’t bad.

The road to Liberia was pretty narrow for around half of it. But there were lots of places along the way we’re one could stop and get something to eat if they wanted to. I stopped at one, which happened to be in a repurposed school bus, to grab dinner around 7 PM and as you might imagine the food was amazing.

Soon after leaving this restaurant, the road got quite a bit better and I was able to go at a pretty good clip and got to Liberia around 9 PM. I’ll share more about Liberia in my next post.
